Class of 1920? Viola Harrison Adams, age 89, died January 4, 1990, after a brief illness. She was born December 19, 1900, in Richmond, Utah to William Jesse and Chloe Eugene Rainey Harrison, the second of 11 children. Her family moved to Logan, Utah in 1903. She graduated from Brigham Young High School. In 1923, she married George Thomas Adams, an outstanding athlete at the Utah State Agricultural College. They moved to Provo in 1925. The marriage was solemnized November 18, 1953, in the Salt Lake Temple. In a 40-year career, she became manager of Stevens Dress Shop and later Lerner's Store. She served 29 years with the Utah Valley Hospital Pink Ladies. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and the Women's Council of Provo. In March 1984, she was selected as Clubwoman of the Year of Provo. Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was active in the church auxiliaries as an officer, teacher, visiting teacher and temple worker. Survivors: One son, two daughters, and spouses, George Thomas and Wilma Jones Adams, Orem; William Lester and Carma Adams Mangum, Salt Lake City; Robert Franklin and Carol Adams Mensel, Kensington, Maryland; 11 grandsons, two granddaughters; 32 great- grandchildren; one brother, Max Rainey Harrison, Clearfield; two sisters, Zenda Harrison Dalrymple Alder, Seattle, Washington; Mrs. Eugene (Jean Harrison) Banner, Modesto, Calif. Funeral services were held Tuesday January 9, 1990 in Provo, Utah. Interment, Provo City Cemetery. [Deseret News, Sunday, January 7, 1990.] |

Leona Marie Jacobson Pope, age 93, was rejoined with her beloved husband and four of their ten children, after slipping sweetly from this existence to the next on June 9, 1995 in Provo, Utah. She was born on September 29, 1901 in Provo, Utah, the daughter of William Martin and Emma Electa Peay Jacobson. She married Orlan Clinton Pope on November 10, 1920 in Randolph, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on October 5, 1961. She completed public school in Randolph, Utah and attended B.Y. Academy in Provo. She was active in the LDS Church, serving as president and teacher in the Primary, Relief Society and MIA. She and Orlan were honored as Master M Man/ Golden Gleaners for their service to youth. She joined the DUP in 1935 and has served actively since. She was a long time genealogist for branches of her family. She served in the Provo LDS Temple for 18 years and was planning to work the day she died. She is survived by her three sons and three daughters, R. Delvar (Betty) Pope, Charles E. (Reva) Pope, Mrs. Wm. B. "Bud" (Amaryllis "Amy") Wernz, Mrs. Gene (Elda Thatcher) Lewis, all of Provo, Utah, Arnold C. (LuAnn) Pope, of Lehi, Utah, Mrs. Rex (Arlene Mecham) Beckstead, of West Jordan, Utah; one foster daughter, Julia Healy Dean, of Barstow, California; 35 grandchildren, 102 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters, Sterling G. (Mary) Jacobson, Jeston (Maurine) Jacobson, Robert G. (Donna) Jacobson, all of Provo, Utah, Mrs. Karl (Arvilla) Workman, of Delta, Utah, Mrs. Henry (Fawn) Kohler, of Midway, Utah. HIS OBITUARY: Husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Elvin William Lewis, 92, died February 26, 1995, at his home in Tabiona of causes incident to age. Born August 26, 1902, in Woodland, Utah to William and Pleasant Maud White Lewis. Married Angeline Lunceford June 16, 1926, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a high priest in the LDS Church. Served as Sunday school superintendent and home teacher. He had a special testimony and supported his wife in all her many church activities. Attended Brigham Young Academy. Was a sheep and cattle rancher, dairyman and land developer. Developed Mt. Tabby Springs Subdivision on Tabby Mountain. He loved Tabby Mountain and shared it with his family and others by developing the subdivision. Survived by his wife of Tabiona; children, William E. and Gloria Lewis, Tabiona; Glen L. and Nadean Lewis, Duchesne; Elaine and Kent Ellertson, Heber City; Marjorie and Basil Defa, Salt Lake City; Picasy and George Winborg, Millville; Mary and Rex Greene, Ogden; Anna and Bob Webb, Layton; Angeline and Fred Evans, Bridgeland; son-in-law, Paul Price, Salt Lake City; 45 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, five step grandchildren, 12 step great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Marcellas Lewis, Tooele; Raymond Lewis, Salt Lake City; Dee Lewis, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Zelda Muhlstein, Brigham City; sisters-in-law, Vilate Lewis and Melba Lewis, both Salt Lake City.
