A trier and a stayer. ~ ~ ~ ~ Charles Herbert Walton was born on June 29, 1887 in Scofield, Carbon County, Utah. His parents were Andrew Jackson Walton and Harriet Bates Noble. He married three times: First, to Ida Ann Paxman [1889-1930] on January 24, 1912 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Second, to Mary Ellen Barker [Chugg] [1903-1958] on December 23, 1936. Third, to [Eva] Grace Farmer [Henderson] [1890-1984] on September 9, 1960. He died on May 9, 1974 in Ogden, Utah.

Walton was one of five 1878 graduates, including Joseph B. Walton. John was one of the original 29 students who registered on the first day of classes at Brigham Young Academy, January 3, 1876. ~ ~ ~ ~ John James Walton was born on February 7, 1858 in Alpine, Utah. His parents: Joseph Walton and Ann Thompson. He married Anna Catherine Bissell on July 1, 1880 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He died on May 22, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Joseph is included on a list of 59 names of the earliest students of Brigham Young Academy, taken from a file in the BYU Archives, made by an unknown contemporary student. ~ ~ ~ ~ Joseph B. Walton, who was born in Alpine, Utah, in 1856, moved to Provo in 1870 to further his education. He stayed in his adopted city most of the rest of his life. Walton's education at the Dusenberry brothers' Timpanogos Branch and at the Brigham Young Academy prepared him for a successful career in education. He supervised Springville's semipublic schools for years and fulfilled the role of a teaching principal at Provo's Parker and Franklin schools. Later, he taught in Pleasant View. The young educator also played an active part in the social life of the community. Walton married Emma Jacques in 1878, and the couple performed with the Provo Dramatic Association. Walton also played a flute in Provo's Martial Band. In 1904, the Walton family moved to a farm in Pleasant View where Joseph became a horticulturist and continued his profession as an educator. During his later years, he developed a fascination for history. Walton took many photographs and wrote of the history of his two favorite towns -- Alpine and Provo. [Source: D. Reuel Walton, circa 1898. Uncategorized Other Student. ~ ~ ~ ~ The history of the Walton family begins in Woodruff, Utah. Reuel Walton was born November 7, 1880, in Woodruff, the third child in a family of 13 children. Their descendants said that the Walton children could each play three different musical instruments and the family had its own orchestra at one time. Reuel continued to play the trombone and was part of a local band as an adult. After finishing public schools in Woodruff and Salt Lake, Reuel attended the Brigham Young Academy in Provo, Utah [circa 1898]. He then studied law at the University of Utah and was admitted to the bar in both Utah and Wyoming. Reuel married Florence M. Lewis of Evanston on November 28, 1912, and began his law practice. Walton was elected as Uinta County Attorney in 1918 and held that position until 1932. He was then appointed district judge of the Third Judicial District of Wyoming, serving until 1934. He was elected justice of the peace in 1940, and served as court commissioner from 1943 until his death. Walton was a state senator for several terms, and upon his death the family received a copy of the resolution of deep sympathy from the Wyoming Senate that was read at the 34th session of the Wyoming State Legislature in Reuel’s honor. Walton was highly regarded in the Evanston, Wyoming community during his lifetime. He spent many years in public service both in Evanston and in the state of Wyoming. She was born in Provo, Utah to Joseph Orson and Mary Jane Boardman Ward on July 17, 1903, the third of four children. After graduating from Brigham Young High School, she married John Norman Carter, also of Provo, on November 10, 1926. The young couple soon settled in Salt Lake City where Edith's husband worked in the steel castings industry. Edith and John Norman Carter were the parents of two children.
