They have 4 children and many grandchildren. Dale attended BYU for 5 years where he earned a BS and MS in Zoology. He spent 19 years on the University of Utah faculty as an associate professor and director of an ecology research program. He earned a Ph.D. in environmental biology at the U of U. Following that he was Director of the State Bureau of Solid and Hazardous Materials in the Department of Environmental Health. ~ ~ ~ ~ His parents: Earl Lee Parker and Matilda Wagner Parker. Parker [BYH Class of 1940]. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Dale Douglas Parker, age 75, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at his home in Bountiful, Utah. Born June 4, 1925, son of Earl Lee and Matilda Wagner Parker. He married Donna Gene Smith on June 11, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1996. Dale was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a member of the bishopric in Dugway, as a member of the High Council, and in various other positions throughout his life. He was a Tooele County School Board member. Dale graduated from Brigham Young High School in 1943. He served in the Naval Air Force during World War II, graduated from BYU with a B.S. and M.S., and earned a Ph.D. from the University of Utah in Ecological Science. He worked as a research professor at the University of Utah, was president of Ecodynamics, Inc., and later worked as director of Solid and Hazardous Waste for the state, later as assistant director of the State Health Department. He retired in 1991. He is survived by his wife, Donna Gene Smith Parker; children, Michael Douglas Parker (Christine), Bountiful, Rebecca Anne Parker Parkin, West Bountiful, Kent Robert Parker, Draper, and Joleen Parker, Syracuse; brother, Dr. Norman L. Parker, Springville; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Scott Lee Parker; two brothers, Hugh Parker and Hobson Parker; and a sister, Lucille Parker John. Parker, and Harry Julian Parker. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS WIFE'S OBITUARY: Tirza Brown Parker, 96, of Salt Lake City, died April 11, 1999 of causes incident to advanced age. Tirza was born in Loa, Utah on August 31, 1902, to Benjamin Franklin and Phylotte Pack Brown. She wed J. Bartle Parker on June 12, 1935 in Evanston, Wyoming, and they enjoyed a warm and happy marriage until his death in 1980. She worked from 1929 until her retirement in 1964 in the advertising department of the Salt Lake Tribune, and Newspaper Agency Corporation. After retirement she continued to work part time on special assignments. Tirza was a cheerful, kind and compassionate person, who lived a long and full life. She had a lively curiosity, and was an insatiable reader and a life-long learner, traits that she passed on to her children. Artistically inclined, she engaged in painting and craft work for many years. In the last decade of her life, she took up writing, and was skilled enough to have some of her work published. Throughout her life she maintained a quiet joie de vivre, which brightened the lives of all who came to know her. She is survived by two sons, Kent Parker (Judi) and Howard Parker (Nancy), and two grandsons, Bryce and Stephen Parker. Memorial services were held on Thursday, April 15, 1999, in Salt Lake City. Zelda had Alzheimers and a short battle with cancer. She was raised in Provo, Utah, where she attended BY High, graduating in 1946, and then BYU for two years. At BYU she met her sweetheart, Floyd, when he ran over her toe as she stood on the corner! Zelda married Floyd Darwin Casper on June 6, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 6, 1963. They settled in Provo, where they raised nine children. After the death of her husband, she met and shared many wonderful years with her companion, Bernel Cox, enjoying her family, hunting, fishing, and traveling. Zelda relocated to Moroni where she was employed by Moroni Feed. She later relocated to Burley, Idaho, where she was employed by the potato plant. Her final residence was in Kearns, Utah, where she lived with her son, Floyd. She loved her church callings, her family, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Zelda worked with the Angel Tree program. Zelda is survived by her children: Darwin Parry (Diane) Casper, Orem, UT; Floyd Douglas Casper, Kearns, UT; Pamela L. (Myron) Bird, Salt Lake City; Timothy Reese (Annette) Casper, Kirkland, WA; Randall Kent Casper, Salt Lake City; Dennis Mark (Susan) Casper, Spanish Fork, UT; Hollee Gay (Kenneth) Anderson, Mt. Pleasant, UT; Philip Lynn (Brenda) Casper, American Fork, UT; and Angela Kay (Mathew) Kirk, Lewiston, ID. She is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Venita Roylance, of Provo, and Geneal Thomas, of Manila, the Philippines; and sisters-in-law, Arla (William) Brown, and Elvera (Kenneth,dec.)
