Class of 1974. John Olsen. John Olsen is deceased, according to a Provo High School website. ~ ~ ~ ~ IS THIS? John Reed Olsen, age 42, passed away at home on July 24, 1999, surrounded by his loving family, following a valiant battle with cancer. John was raised and attended schools in the Provo area. From 1976-1978, he served in the Venezuela Caracus Mission. Following his mission, he received his bachelors degree in accounting from the University of Utah. On June 18, 1982, he married his eternal companion and best friend, Bonnie Sue Muir in the Seattle LDS Temple. For a short time, John worked as an EMT at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and Cottonwood Hospital, then as a medical assistant with Dr. Russell Sorensen's office, where the patients and his co-workers loved him. He began a new chapter in his life as a CPA, when he became one of the founding partners of the firm of Call, Hartle and Olsen. John was very active in the Bonneville Chapter of the Kiwanis Club, holding all positions locally and internationally, including Lieutenant Governor for the Utah-Idaho District. As an active member of the LDS Church, John served faithfully in various positions, most recently as a member of the bishopric of the Jordan Meadows Ward. His true understanding of and love for the gospel of Jesus Christ was evidenced by the life he lived. Though this was of utmost importance in John's life, his greatest joy came from being a husband and father. He was completely devoted to Bonnie and their daughters, Briana and Katelyn. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughters, Briana and Katelyn; mother, Phyllis Smart Olsen; brothers and sisters, Myra (Duane) Shepherd, Ralph "Tick" Olsen, Lynne (Marlowe) Richards, Darlene (David) Giles, James (Michelle) Olsen, Don (Ann) Olsen; and many wonderful in-laws and extended family members.
