His parents were Philip Harrison Hurst and Ellen Adelia Wilson Hurst. Guy married Delora Reed [or Reid] on January 18, 1922. Delora was born on February 23, 1896 in Oasis, Millard County, Utah. Guy H. Hurst died on August 23, 1969 in Ogden, Utah.

Class of 1956. Kay Hurst. French Club, Pep Club. Married Ben Dowler. ~ ~ ~ ~ I married Wallace Mangum, Jr. [BY High Class of 1956] in 1956. Had four children, three boys and one girl, with Wally Mangum. Three children were born in Denver, Colorado while he was in the Air Force. We took Wally’s younger brother to raise when we were just twenty-one. The last child was born in California. After divorcing in 1968, I drove a school bus for Rowland School District and Corona School District in California. I also drove a school bus to and from the California School for the Deaf with pre-school deaf children. I moved to Birch Tree, Missouri in 1972. I became a licensed insurance broker and worked in Landrum Insurance Agency in Mountain View, Missouri for many years. I worked part time at the local newspaper office. I married Ben Dowler in 1976 and had two more children, one boy and one girl. I opened my own wedding shop in 1986, making custom gowns, cakes, and accessories. I was a board member of Shannon County Soil and Water Department for eight years. I won 1st Place, professional and Best of Show at a Gingerbread House contest in Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri. Houses were on display for three weeks at Christmas time and sold at a childrens' benefit auction. I graduated from Beauty College at age fifty-nine and have my shop at home. We lost our youngest son in a motor vehicle accident in 1999. My two sisters still live in Provo. My parents are both deceased. We have sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren scattered across the U.S. We still farm but have cut back and changed our farming operation outside of Birch Tree in the beautiful Ozarks. Effie Lucille Hutchings. ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Effie Lucille Hutchings Marshall, age 100, passed away August 29, 1991 at the home of her daughter, Phyllis in Minersville. Effie was born February 12, 1891 in Beaver to William Willard and Sarah Agnes LeBaron Hutchings. She married Elmer Herbert Marshall on October 1, 1913 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; he died August 20, 1950 of injuries sustained in a truck accident. She was reared and educated in Beaver, Utah, graduated from Murdock Academy, attended LDS College and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Effie taught school in Minersville where she has resided since. Church and civic affairs were always an important part of her life. She served as Relief Society, Primary, and MIA president, and held all other positions in the LDS Church. She served a mission to the East Central States, November, 1955. Held many leadership positions in the community, Daughter of the Utah Pioneers, Chairperson of the Republican Party, in the PTA, American Legion Auxiliary, and others. She had a great sense of humor and was noted for her readings and acting.She was a devoted mother and has made each of her children and grandchildren a quilt. She helped raise some of her grandchildren. Survived by four sons and five daughters, Howard, Jeff, Fay, and Ross Marshall; Mrs. Karl (Phyllis) Truman; Mrs. Ken (Ruth) Knight, all Minersville; Mrs. Walt (Barbara) Messinger, Mrs. Clinton (Rachel) Hunt, both Cedar City; Mrs. Donald (Aldene) Jones, Kaysville; 40 grandchildren; 125 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mrs. Bill (Lola) Hutchings, Beaver. Preceded in death by five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, eight sisters and a brother. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 31, 1991 in the Minersville LDS Ward Chapel. Interment, Minersville Cemetery, Utah. [Deseret News, Friday, August 30, 1991.]
