After BYH, I served a mission to Germany then attended BYU for 4 years (University Studies). I even made the honor roll a couple of times, but earned no degree before going 'on the road' with the Osmonds. I co-founded Non Stop Music after working 8 years as a studio musician in Utah and LA playing trombone on the 'little bit rock 'n roll' side with Donny and Marie, etc. I married my sweetheart, Arden Meierstein, and we have 7 awesome children and 8 beautiful grand children. She resides in Salt Lake City. @2006 ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Elaine Holbrook Haymore. August 11, 1920 ~ April 22, 2015, at age 94. Alsina Elaine Holbrook Haymore passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 22, 2015. She was born in Provo, Utah on August 11, 1920 to Alsina Elizabeth Brimhall and Lafayette Hinckley Holbrook. Elaine was born the youngest of 11 children in Provo, Utah where she was much loved by her parents and eight doting sisters and two brothers. Known as “Tiddlywinks” by her dad and one of the “three little kids”, she had fond memories of attending Brigham Young High School, Class of 1938, while living in the clinker brick house, and was taught to cherish her pioneer ancestry and LDS Church membership. After a semester at Brigham Young University she married John Arnold Haymore and moved several times before they finally settled in Salt Lake City, Utah. She lived at her present address for 65 years. The center of Elaine’s life has always been her children. Each of her seven sons and six daughters has been a blessed event for her, a fulfilling of her purpose on earth. And to them, she gave her full time and devotion. During the four years in California Valerie was born during World War II. Desiring to be in a safer environment, the family moved to Salt Lake City where all other children were born, spanning 22 years of her life. All sons experienced opportunities for work both in construction and paper routes. All daughters learned homemaking and secretarial skills. Education was strongly promoted in this family and all of the children either graduated or attended some years of university by having part-time jobs and scholarships, married in the temple, and all sons served missions for the LDS Church. After her divorce, Elaine worked as a secretary at various offices including many years at the LDS Church office building, to support the children remaining at home. Elaine’s church callings included teacher and temple ordinance worker. She will be remembered as the one who handed out programs at church during her final years, enduring well to the end. Even though she was limited in hearing she managed to comprehend what was said at church, often reading lips and body language to do so. With a ready smile and encouraging pat on the arm, she greeted everyone even to a few hours before her quiet passing. Always conveying her interest in those around her, she wanted little of possessions, but cherished relationships. She did so love lilacs and walks, and photos of grandchildren, and holding hands and chocolates. Her legacy to her numerous posterity will be one of faith in Jesus Christ, be forgiving, listen to the Holy Ghost, and remember your baptismal covenants to help others on their way. What a gift this mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister was. We let her go reluctantly but joyfully look forward to a reunion someday. Elaine is survived by her children, Valerie Jueschke (Bill), Daniel Haymore (Sondra), Gloria Pehrson (David), John Haymore (Bonnie), Douglas Haymore (Tricia), Sylvia Hunter (Ron), Bruce Haymore (Michele), Rosalee Sotomayor (Larry), Joseph Haymore, David Haymore (Barbara), Carolee Cannon, Cyndi Cross (Greg), Mark Haymore. She is further blessed by 67 grandchildren, 115 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by four grandsons, Shawn Birtcher, Michael Haymore, J. David Mitchell, and Nathan Haymore. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Valley View 6th Ward, 2000 East 3900 South. Interment, Provo City Cemetery. She lived a long and full life, devoted to her family and her faith. Helen was born to Lafayette Hinckley Holbrook and Alsina Elizabeth Brimhall on July 8, 1917 in Provo, Utah, the ninth of eleven children. She had a wonderful childhood growing up in the clinker brick house on the corner of 300 North and 300 East in Provo with her eight sisters and two brothers. She had many childhood friends who remained lifelong friends. Helen attended Brigham Young Training School, High School, and University, serving as secretary of the student body. She graduated in 1939 with a degree in speech and drama with a minor in English. She then taught at Dixon Jr. High School. She married Carlyle "A" Dahlquist on August 1, 1941 in the Manti LDS Temple. They headed to southern California to honeymoon and begin their new life together. Helen worked at the Southern California Gas Company and the Union Pacific Railroad while Carlyle attended the University of Southern California Dental School. Helen happily left the work force to raise their six children, first in Alhambra and then in Arcadia, California. Later, she worked at the LDS Institute at Pasadena City College. She loved the college environment and interacting with the students. Carlyle passed away suddenly February 7, 1981. Helen continued working at the Institute until her retirement in 1990. She returned to Provo in 1990 to live closer to her sisters. Her daughter Nancy joined her in Provo; together they provided a welcoming harbor for many family visitors. Their home was a hub for extended family and friends. The grandchildren attending college loved getting together for Sunday dinner with Grandma and Aunt Nancy. Even as her health declined, Helen remained active, determined, and independent. Her daughter Nancy's companionship and care was a great source of comfort. Helen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She was intellectually active, an avid reader, and lover of all that is "praiseworthy." Above all, she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Helen is survived by her youngest sister, Elaine Holbrook Haymore, Salt Lake City; her children Kathleen (James) Crapo, Denver, Colorado; Nancy Dahlquist, Provo, Utah; Carlyle (Sherrie) Dahlquist, Blue Springs, MO; Helen (Lynn) Luker, Boise, Idaho; Mary (Tim) Sessions, Troutdale, Oregon; Scott (Danielle) Dahlquist, Bakersfield, California; 26 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the Edgemont 9th Ward Chapel, 4295 North Canyon Road, Provo. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Monday evening from 6 until 8 and at the church Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment, Provo City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the George H. Brimhall Memorial Essay Contest, Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah.
