BYH Faculty & Staff. Daryl LaMar "Andy" Anderson. English, Spanish and Science Teacher. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: Daryl LaMar Anderson, age 83, died at his home in Utah on May 15, 2012. He was born to Clifford LaMar Anderson and Ila Fayne Thompson on June 30, 1928. He graduated from Sacramento High School with accolades in academics and sports. His "semper fi", "never-give-up" attitude was forged in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was one of the first four missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to preach the gospel in Paraguay. He met Althea Elaine Kimball while attending Brigham Young University and they were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple in 1954. After his BYU graduation, he began a long and successful career as a high school English, Spanish, and science teacher. He taught at the following high schools in California: Temple City, San Leandro, and Castro Valley. He also taught at BY High School in Provo, Utah. His joy came from his family and his friends. He is survived by his son, Greg (Kristan) Anderson; son Alan (Deb) Anderson; daughter, Kim (James) Dahlin; son Paul (Marci) Anderson; son Kenny (Rebecca) Anderson; brother Richard (Lois) Anderson; sister Enid (Tom) Boland; 28 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. He loved sports, music, acting, and scripture study - but most of all he loved people. Services will be held Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Cedar Hills West LDS Stake Center chapel, 4580 W. Cedar Hills Dr., Cedar Hills, Utah. His parents were Erastus Snow Andersen (sic) and Helena Matilda Overlade Andersen. He married Venice Clark, also BYH Class of 1912, on June 15, 1915 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Earl Overlade Anderson died on August 20, 1964 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Salt Lake City, Utah.

University, Book 6, page 131. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: Edward Oliver Anderson (May 16, 1891 – August 9, 1977) was an American architect based in Salt Lake City, Utah. He served as Church Architect for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Anderson graduated from Brigham Young High School in the Class of 1914, and then the University of Utah from 1914 to 1915. He left Utah to study architecture at Carnegie Tech from 1919 to 1922. While in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he worked as a draftsman for architects Edward B. Lee and Alden & Harlow. In 1924 he returned to Utah and trained with Cannon & Fetzer and Pope & Burton before starting his own firm, Anderson & Young. From about 1928 to 1936, Anderson was part of the firm of Anderson and Young with Lorenzo Snow "Bing" Young. Their first major project was Kingsbury Hall at the University of Utah, followed by the Granite Stake Tabernacle, both of which are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. He contributed to the design of many other civic buildings in Utah, including the renovation of the Salt Lake City Council Hall. Anderson was a member of the American Institute of Architects for most of his life and was the president of the Utah Chapter from 1935 to 1936. From 1943 to 1949, Anderson served as the general Church Architect for the LDS Church. During the 1950s, he continued designing for the Church, but mainly focused on the design of temples. In the early 1950s, Anderson was asked by David O. McKay to design a smaller temple that could be used in areas with fewer Latter-day Saints than those where temple then existed. Shortly after Anderson began work on his design, plans were announced to build the Swiss Temple. As part of this project, Anderson designed and supervised the construction of a one-twelfth scale model of a room where a film of the temple ordinances could be presented to overcome the fact that there would be patrons at the Swiss Temple speaking at least ten languages. Along with the Swiss Temple, Anderson designed the Los Angeles California Temple, the London England Temple, and the Hamilton New Zealand Temple. Of the four temples that Anderson designed, all have a single spire design. He was connected also with the mid-20th century remodelings of the Salt Lake Temple, the Manti Utah Temple, and the St. George Utah Temple. Anderson was born in Richfield, Utah. While at the University of Utah, Anderson became friends with Millard F. Malin, who later became the artist that Anderson used for sculpting parts of the temples that he designed, including the Angel Moroni statues that topped each spire. Edward O. Anderson died in Alameda County, California, on August 9, 1977 at the age of 70.

Elaine Anderson Cardell Gold, died at home on October 9, 2007, Long Beach, New York. Born October 8, 1924 in the tiny town of Morgan, Utah, she found her way to most corners of the earth in a life rich with adventure. A high school English teacher for many years, Elaine loved teaching, but she loved learning even more. Most especially, she loved her children, Scott and Leslie Cardell, and her late husband, Warren Gold. She will be deeply missed. [Published in the New York Times on October 14, 2007.]

When I arrived I learned they had not yet named the yearbook editor. It was my good fortune that my drama teacher, Mr. Andrés chose me to be yearbook editor in 1945. I loved putting together the yearbook as I was able to get to know everyone and interact with them. It was one of the most enjoyable times of my life. I got a lot of exercise running up and down the many stairs from lower to upper campus, because the printing press was on upper campus. The unique memory I have of the yearbook coming out was that as far as I know we may have had the first yearbook that came out on time - so that we could all sign each other’s books. There is a photo in the back of the yearbook where we are toasting the completion of the book, and if you have a copy, you will see I am beaming!" @Dec2019

Married Dion Frazier. @2001 ~ ~ ~ ~ HER HUSBAND'S TRIBUTE: Faye was married to Dion Frazier in 2001 and he passed away. She met David Shaw at the BY High School Reunion in 2009 at Carolyn Woodruff's home. Dave's wife had passed away earlier that year in March of 2009 and Faye's husband about 9 years earlier. Faye and David started dating and were married on January 15, 2010. They had a remarkable marriage and were able to travel and be together to many areas such as North and South Carolina, Victoria British Columbia and the Oregon Coast. Dave had three daughters and 8 grandchildren and Faye 4 daughters and 9 grandchildren, which kept them both busy in traveling to Boise, Idaho and Medford, Oregon as well as parts of Utah to visit their grandchildren. David was called as Bishop of their ward in October of 2015, just prior to his 74th birthday. They had a wonderful marriage together and found great joy in their later years. Unfortunately, due to a tragic accident in June of 2018, Faye fell down the stairs and broke her neck. She was laid to rest in the Orem City Cemetery in June of 2018. She lived a remarkable life and was a great joy to her children and her husbands. She has been sorely missed. @2018 ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Faye Leilani Anderson Frazier Shaw. December 12, 1940 - June 15, 2018. Our beloved mother, wife, grandmother and sister Faye Leilani Anderson Frazier Shaw passed away June 15, 2018 surrounded by her family. Born in 1940 to Leland & Blanche Anderson, Faye grew up in Ephraim and Manti in Utah with older siblings Don, Shirley, Helen and Lois. Faye attended B.Y. High in Provo in the Class of 1959, where she was a cheerleader and a contestant in the Miss Liberty Bell pageant. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a teaching degree and married Dion Rex Frazier in the Manti Temple in 1963. Faye and Dion made their first home in Reno, Nevada, where their first daughter Kelly was born. They later returned to Utah where Faye continued her teaching career, and where their daughters Sharon, Shirley and Nichole were born. Faye was a super-star teacher and a fantastic mother; children gravitated towards her. She spent a stellar 26-year career at Wasatch Elementary School in Provo, Utah where she received several teaching awards. Faye’s creativity transferred to her home, and her sense of fun was present with her children. Faye was widowed in 2002. She later became reacquainted with former B.Y. High classmate, David Michael Shaw, at a Class of 1959 reunion. They married in 2010. Faye was and active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she served in many church callings throughout her life. Faye touched the lives of many people over the course of her 77 years. Many knew her to be the most giving and kind person they knew. Faye is survived by her husband David Shaw, and by her daughters Kelly Frazier, Sharon Rajagopal (Rajiv), Shirley Acumen (Daryl), Nichole Frazier, and sister Lois Hayward (Gerald). Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at the Orchard Stake Center, 810 East 600 North, Orem, Utah Interment, Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East, Orem, Utah. Source.
