"Jack" Wing [BYH Class of 1950] (Janet Peay); Annette Wing Taylor [BYH Class of 1954]; Diane Wing Miner; and Stephan Wing. ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Ella Annette Wing Taylor, 82, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on October 8, 2018. She was born January 30, 1936 in American Fork, Utah to John H. Wing and Ella Mae Clinger Wing. She attended schools in Provo, graduating from Brigham Young High School in the Class of 1954. Annette married her sweetheart, Theodore M. Taylor on February 9, 1963 in Provo, Utah. Annette enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends. One of her favorite places to visit was the Oregon Coast. Annette enjoyed cooking and baking meals for her family. She also enjoyed canning in the fall. She enjoyed and loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Annette was well known for her funny personality and her warm caring heart by family, friends, and neighbors. Annette is survived by her two sons: Ryan M. Taylor (Shellie) of Provo, Utah, and Scott W. Taylor of Big Fork, Montana. She has six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, L. Diane Wing Miner; two brothers; John H. “Jack” Wing Jr. and Stephen A. Wing, and her sweetheart Theodore M. Taylor. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary Chapel on 495 S. State St., Orem, Utah. Viewings will be held, Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the mortuary. Class of 1950. Chorus. Jack Wing. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: John H. "Jack" Wing, loving husband, father, grandpa and friend, passed away on October 5, 2006. He was born on March 30, 1932 in American Fork, Utah, the son of John Hildebrand Wing and Ella Mae Clinger Wing. Jack, as he was known by friends, lived a full life. He enjoyed being with his family, camping, hiking, biking and anything that dealt with fishing and the outdoors. He was also an active member of the Tin Can Club. Dad had a great love for animals whether a dog, cat, peacock, goose, etc. -- they were always guaranteed a home. Jack graduated from Brigham Young High School in 1950. He married Janet Peay on August 29, 1958. They were married for 48 years and were blessed with four children. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in chemistry. He worked for Geneva Steel for 36 years in the Chemistry Lab, Open Hearth, and Foundry. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet; sons, Kent (Pamela) Wing; John (Brenda) Wing; daughters, Lisa Wing (Bruce) Bown; DeAnna Wing (Ryan) Brown; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters, Annette Wing Taylor [BYH Class of 1954]; Diane Wing Miner; and a brother, Stephan Wing. At the age of 29 on December 5, 1931, John Hildebrand Wing of American Fork married Ella Mae Clinger, 19, of Provo, Utah, in Coalville, Utah. John H. Wing died on July 14, 1983 in Provo, Utah. Their son, John H. Wing, Jr., graduated from BYH in 1950.

Class of 1934 ~ Honorary. Lapreal Winterton. ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: LaPreal Winterton Larsen passed away of causes incidental to age Friday, July 10, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Orem, Utah. She was born July 13, 1915 in Magrath, Alberta, Canada to Ralph Stafford and Ann Louise Ririe Winterton. She lived in Canada with her family until she was 12 years old when her family moved to Provo, Utah. She attended Brigham Young High School and Provo High School. She graduated from Brigham Young University in 1938 with high honors. She taught business classes at Moroni High and Payson High School and later at BYU. LaPreal started to date Eugene Larsen while working as a secretary at Weber College in Ogden in 1941. They were married in the St. George Temple on Sept 2, 1942 as Eugene prepared for military duty. While he was overseas, she worked at Geneva Steel. They had five children. Most of her married life was spent in Grand Junction, Colorado, Ephrata, Washington and then retirement in Provo, Utah. She and Eugene were very active throughout their lives in service for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They served a mission together in the Dallas-Fort Worth Texas Mission. They then did genealogy and were ordinance workers in the Provo Temple for many years. LaPreal is survived by her children: Neil (Kay) Larsen, Carol (John) Coles, Jeanene (John) Krogue, Brenda Larsen; 29 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters, and two brothers, her husband Eugene and her son Howard. Viewing will be held Sunday, July 12 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Sundberg Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State in Orem. Funeral Services will be on her 94th birthday, July 13, 2009 at 1 pm with a viewing from 11:45 to 12:45 at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Charleston, Utah Cemetery. See website page. ~ ~ ~ ~ Ralph Stafford Winterton was born September 27, 1880 in Charleston, Wasatch County, Utah. If he attended high school at BYA, it would have been between 1898 and 1902. His parents were William Winterton and Ellen "Nellie" Widdison. He married Ann Louise Ririe on June 2, 1909 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He died on November 22, 1959 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Joy Winward Hadley, Faculty. ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Joy Winward Hadley, February 25, 1933 ~ March 22, 2021. Obituary & Service. Joy Winward Hadley, age 88, passed away March 22, 2021 from complications following a stroke. She died at home peacefully, surrounded by her family. Joy was born February 25, 1933 in Preston, Idaho at her aunt’s home. She was the youngest of seven children. Growing up on the farm in Clifton, Idaho, she had dogs, sheep, cats, rabbits, birds, and a pony. She always loved animals and had numerous pets throughout her life. Joy graduated from Brigham Young University with honors in 1955. She was a lifelong learner and earned additional college credits throughout her career. After graduating, Joy began her career in teaching. Joy taught kindergarten and first grade at thirteen schools during her long career. With her family, Joy moved overseas to Saudi Arabia and taught at Dharan and Abqaiq Academies. Joy also trained future teachers at the BYU Laboratory School. Joy was passionate about making sure that children could read, even specializing in teaching reading to children with difficulties. She was nominated for the Golden Apple award in 1997. Family was very important to Joy. She had close relationships with her brothers and sisters, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joy and Darrell adopted five children, two of them from Costa Rica. She loved her children and grandchildren fiercely and would do anything for them. Joy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in several positions in her church, including Relief Society president and Primary president. After retiring, Joy and her husband Darrell served two missions for the Church, one in Albuquerque, New Mexico and one in Akron, Ohio. She enjoyed traveling with her family, and was able to travel the world, from Europe and Central America, to the Middle and Far East and Oceania. She counted many friends throughout the world that she made while living abroad. Reflecting upon her life, Joy said, “I’ve had a happy, great life - travel, education, marriage, family. I want my funeral to be the happiest one ever.” She was preceded in death by her parents Bryan Hunsaker Winward and Elsie May (Farmer) and six siblings. She is survived by her husband, Darrell Hadley, her five children - Michael (Monique), Tod (Heather), Melia, Mia, Marcia (Dona) - 15 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Provo Peak 7th Ward Chapel, 502 East 200 North, Provo, Utah. Friends may call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. St. George, Utah - Michael Reed Wiscombe, age 76, passed away January 29, 2014 in St. George, Utah. He was born on October 30, 1937, in Roosevelt, Utah, to James Reed Wiscombe and Lula Mae Eldridge Wiscombe. He married Susan Thomas on March 12, 1958, in St. George, Utah, they later divorced. He married Janey Chambers on September 3, 1976 in Enterprise, Utah, they later divorced. Mike was raised in Provo, Utah, where he graduated from Brigham Young High School in 1956. He attended Dixie College where he played basketball. Mike was a painting contractor and was a perfectionist in his work. He loved all athletics, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his six children, Michael Scott Wiscombe of Las Vegas, Nevada; Jeffry Wayne (Jill) Wiscombe, of St. George, Utah; Leslie (Brent) Clark of Cedar City, Utah; Shawn Douglas Wiscombe of Parowan, Utah; Randi Goins of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Jared Reed Wiscombe of Minot, North Dakota; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother John (Ginger) Wiscombe of Price, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of life will be held Friday, February 14, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home. He married Carol Lynne Haight on August 31, 1962 in Burley, Idaho and was later divorced. He married Rosario “Rosie” Perez on October 6, 1967 in Anchorage, Alaska and was later divorced. Irwin graduated from Brigham Young High School with the Class of 1956. In September 1957, following enlistment in the Utah Air National Guard and active-duty training at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, he became a full-time employee of the Utah Air National Guard as a Radar Maintenance Technician working alternately at Salt Lake International Airport Air Guard Facility and the Francis Peak Radar Site. In August 1966 Irwin went to Anchorage, Alaska, accepting a position as an Electronic Technical Representative with the Alaskan Air Command Ground Radar Maintenance Group headquarters at the Elmendorf Air Base, Alaska. Irwin became an employee of the Atlantic Richfield Company in May 1976, working fourteen of his sixteen-year ARCO employment at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Following retirement in 1993, he relocated from Anchorage to Hurricane, Utah. Irwin was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Van Rawlings Wiser. He is survived by his sister, Marcia Wiser (Brent E.) Boyack; brother, William Lee “Bill” (JoAnn Soria) Wiser; and sister-in-law, Sharon Jean Pugmire Wiser. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery, Franklin County, Idaho. [Metcalf Mortuary, May 3, 2016]
