University, Book 9, page 277. ~ ~ ~ ~ Ruth Louise Partridge was born on December 22, 1898 in Fort Cameron [Beaver], Utah. Her parents were Ernest D. Partridge and Elizabeth Truman Partridge. She married Raymond Buckley Richan on February 14, 1918 in Santa Monica, California, and was divorced. She second married William Marr of Beaver, Utah, in about 1939. Ruth died on November 11, 1981 in Provo, Utah. Her interment, Provo City Cemetery. ~ ~ ~ ~ References in the L. Her father was a teacher in Provo at Brigham Young Academy. He and his class surveyed the “Y” when it was built on the mountain. Ruth attended nurse’s training in California. She wrote a book about her experiences called Adventures with the Lamp which was suppressed in New York because doctors and nurses in that state objected to her portrayal of hospitals. During World War II Ruth tried to join the U.S. Army but she was turned down because she had written and published a book. Ruth wrote for a newspaper in Provo called the Journal. She enjoyed success with her column “Minutia,” but the newspaper was short-lived. Ruth then wrote for the Provo newspaper, The Herald, but later was fired for an unknown reason. Ruth shared her musical talents by playing the piano at public locations such as the State Mental Hospital and the Senior Citizens Center. ~ ~ ~ ~ Abstracts: ~ ~ UA OH 40: This record is a seventeen-page typescript of an interview held with Ruth Louise Partridge on December 18, 1980. The subject of the interview was “Reminiscences of Brigham Young University.” She discusses the history of her father during much of the interview. No biographical data on her life is given, nor dates to help the reader approximate the time periods of the topics she discusses. She describes experiences she had while attending Brigham Young High School and Brigham Young University. Ruth lived in Knightville, Utah, a mining town, during part of her life and discusses the atmosphere there. She describes nursing during World War II and relates an experience using Sulpha, a new “wonder drug” at the time, on a patient with a ruptured appendix. She mentions getting married twice, but no names of her husbands or any children are given. In the interview Ruth discusses her experiences with BYU notables Ernest Wilkinson, George Brimhall, Franklin Harris, and Alice Louise Reynolds. ~ ~ MSS P. 173: This is a collection of photographs formerly in the possession of Ruth Louise Partridge. Many items are the actual photographs, others are photocopies of the originals. The collection includes portraits of individuals, groups, families, businesses, and items relating to Brigham Young University. Most of the items are identified and in either good or fair condition. An inventory of the photographs describing quantity, type and size, description of contents, quality of image, box, folder, and item number is available in the collection. |

Source: 1949 BYH Graduation Exercises Program. ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Frankie Hadfield Paskett Roylance, beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend returned to the loving arms of her Father in Heaven and her Redeemer on July 20, 2015 at the age 84. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Jaymie Utley (Jim), Stefani Kehl (Mark), David Paul Roylance (Michelle), and John Mark Roylance. Her legacy continues with 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Born February 21, 1931 in Malta, Idaho to Frank Paskett and Jessie Hadfield Paskett, she is now able to enjoy a great reunion with her mother and meet her father for the first time. She is also reuniting with her husband, John Paul Roylance, who preceded her death 40 years ago, her 5 brothers and 3 sisters, who also preceded her death. Frankie graduated from Brigham Young High School in 1949. She married John Paul Roylance on September 15, 1951. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 24, 1976. She worked at Hillcrest Junior High School and Murrray High School for many years. She enjoyed many friendships with students and faculty, especially her caring friends Dee and Loleta Jensen. She received the distinguished Educator's Apple Award in 1995. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved attending the temple with friends and family. She is survived by her sister, Eldora Barrett. Funeral services will be Monday, July 27, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Little Cottonwood 12th Ward located at 6180 South Glenoaks Street (850 East), Murray, Utah. Viewings will be held Sunday, July 26th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary located at 4760 South State Street and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Must assume she did not graduate in 1936. ~ ~ ~ ~ OBITUARY: Katherine Passey Willoughby Peay, age 79, died Dec. 27, 1997 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born October 22, 1918 in Provo, Utah, to Roy and Sarah Harris Passey. She married her first husband, Raymond Willoughby, in Provo, Utah, after his tour of duty in World War II, they made their home in Orem. Some years later, she married Willis Peay, who died in 1993. They enjoyed beautifying their home, and they enjoyed traveling. One year, they won the top home beautification award from the city of Orem. Kay, as she was known, was very proud of her Hyrum Smith heritage and was strong in keeping family reunions organized. She graduated from BYU High School [in 1936?] and worked most of her life. She worked in Food Services at the BYU Wilkinson Center and made a lot of friends there. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent most of her life caring for others. She loved to do temple work and prepared meals and parties for her neighbors, family and friends. She loved to dance and have fun and is famous for her rice pudding! Kay Peay was the bright, friendly receptionist at the new Orem City Hall, and everyone liked to talk to as they came to get information. Sometimes she was called the Voice of Orem. She kept an historical scrap book for the City of Orem over 14 years. She was a past president of the Orem Women's Club; president of the PBX Club in Provo; a member of the Sharon PTA and a member of the Women's Council, Delta Arts Section. She is survived by her son: Fred Willoughby and his wife, Helen, of Midvale, Utah and by her daughter, Peggy Lester, of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 3, 1998 in Provo. Interment was in the Provo City Cemetery. At times he was living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. @2009 ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: Michael Clarke Patton, 63, of Maplewood, New Jersey, passed away at his home on Friday, June 20, 2014, of renal cell carcinoma. Michael was the beloved husband of Cynthia Zimpfer; father of Annabelle, Michael Casey, and Donovan; and father-in-law of Jacqueline. He is also survived by his father, Lyle Patton; two sisters, Robin Ingela-Arkell and Susan Patton; and five grandchildren. Michael was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 3, 1951, to Lyle and the late Ramona Clarke Patton. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1973 (BA Engineering) and the University of Utah in 1975 (BS Meteorology). He was a captain in the United States Air Force, flying as a meteorology officer during the Vietnam War. In 1987, Michael graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a master's degree in architecture. He worked as a structural specialist for FEMA in New Orleans; Orange County, New York; eastern Iowa; northern California; and, following hurricane Sandy, Queens and Brooklyn. He loved helping families and businesses get back on their feet after natural disasters. Michael was a devoted father, avid sailor, enthusiastic golfer, and zealous Denver Broncos fan. A funeral service was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Maplewood on Tuesday, June 24. Michael will be buried at the Zimpfer family plot in Troy Mills, Iowa, on Sunday, June 29, 2018.
