German Club. ~ ~ ~ ~ OBITUARY: Dr. Thomas E. Pardoe, 80 died Nov. 18, 2001 in American Fork. Born in Provo, Nov. 15, 1921 to Dr. T. Earl and Kathryn Bassett Pardoe. He married Shirley Romney on August 3, 1946. They were sealed May 13, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Survived by his wife, four children: Toni Pardoe (Larmer) Ellsworth; Pamilla Pardoe; Topper (Katie) Pardoe; and Billy Pardoe; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; sisters: Norma Pardoe Anderson, Catherine Pardoe Reese, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001 at the Highland 8th Ward, Highland, Utah. Interment, American Fork Cemetery. The family suggests donations to the LDS Church Humanitarian Aid Fund. Pardoe was President of the Sophomore class during the 1932-1933 school year. ~ ~ ~ ~ His BYH graduation date confirmed in graduating class list, Salt Lake Telegram, May 7, 1935, p. 14 ~ ~ ~ ~ William Edward Pardoe was born on December 6, 1916 in Ogden, Utah. His parents were Thomas Earl Pardoe and Kathryn Irene Bassett. Bill died on February 10, 1978 in Connecticut. ~ ~ ~ ~ OBITUARY OF HIS WIFE: (Myrle) Grace Hansen Pardoe. Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Grace Pardoe, passed away peacefully from natural causes on January 2, 2000 in West Jordan, Utah. Grace was born on March 9, 1919 in Rexburg, Idaho, to Andrew Hintze Hansen and Dagny Hansen. She married William Edward Pardoe on June 22, 1941 in Flushing, New York. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 13, 1983. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Pardoe; sisters, Selma Hansen McCormick, Donna Hansen Luke; brother, John Hansen; and her parents. Grace is survived by her three daughters: Kathryn Pardoe Irwin, New York, New York; and Sara Pardoe Byron and Billie Pardoe, both of South Jordan, Utah; six grandchildren, who were the joy of her life, Graeme Marshall, Boston, Massachusetts; Melanie Marshall, Prescott, Arizona; William Irwin, New York, New York; Donna Folland Nixon, South Jordan; Wendy Folland Sorensen, Cedar City; and Susan Folland, South Jordan. Grace is survived by her two sisters, Ella Hansen McCormick and Ethel Hansen Reinhardt and brother-in-law, Charles McCormick. Grace loved her sons-in-law, Arthur Irwin, Mac Byron, and former sons-in-law, Richard Folland and Mike Marshall. Grace (Gracie to her friends), spent her life serving her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed a wonderful life with her husband, Bill, and traveled throughout the world with him. Her primary objective, however, was to provide a safe and wonderful home for her three girls. She sewed beautiful wardrobes for them when they were children. Her home was open to friends of all ages and backgrounds. She always had a pot of chili going for the skiers or paddle tennis players, and loved to go out with their friends and dance and entertain. She loved to play jazz on the piano and music was a big part of her life. She had many wonderful friends in Scarsdale, New York and throughout Westchester County, New York and in Connecticut. After moving to Utah to be near her younger daughters, Grace renewed her faith in the LDS Church and spent many hours in service in the Extraction program. She supported numerous missionaries anonymously and was always generous to anyone in need. Her tender heart and love for people earned her many devoted friends over the years. The family suggests contributions be made to the American Red Cross Relief Fund. Graveside service were held at the Salt Lake City Cemetery on Wednesday, January 5, 2000. They have 4 children and many grandchildren. Dale attended BYU for 5 years where he earned a BS and MS in Zoology. He spent 19 years on the University of Utah faculty as an associate professor and director of an ecology research program. He earned a Ph.D. in environmental biology at the U of U. Following that he was Director of the State Bureau of Solid and Hazardous Materials in the Department of Environmental Health. ~ ~ ~ ~ His parents: Earl Lee Parker and Matilda Wagner Parker. Their children included: Clarence Hugh Parker [BYH Class of 1936]; Hobson Parker; Lucille Parker John; Dale Douglas Parker [BYH Class of 1943]; and Dr. Norman L. Parker [BYH Class of 1940]. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Dale Douglas Parker, age 75, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at his home in Bountiful, Utah. Born June 4, 1925, son of Earl Lee and Matilda Wagner Parker. He married Donna Gene Smith on June 11, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1996. Dale was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a member of the bishopric in Dugway, as a member of the High Council, and in various other positions throughout his life. He was a Tooele County School Board member. Dale graduated from Brigham Young High School in 1943. He served in the Naval Air Force during World War II, graduated from BYU with a B.S. and M.S., and earned a Ph.D. from the University of Utah in Ecological Science. He worked as a research professor at the University of Utah, was president of Ecodynamics, Inc., and later worked as director of Solid and Hazardous Waste for the state, later as assistant director of the State Health Department. He retired in 1991. He is survived by his wife, Donna Gene Smith Parker; children, Michael Douglas Parker (Christine), Bountiful, Rebecca Anne Parker Parkin, West Bountiful, Kent Robert Parker, Draper, and Joleen Parker, Syracuse; brother, Dr. Norman L. Parker, Springville; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Scott Lee Parker; two brothers, Hugh Parker and Hobson Parker; and a sister, Lucille Parker John. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 28, 2001 in Bountiful. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery. [Deseret News, Thursday, April 26, 2001.]

Willa Higby was born on April 11, 1918 in Wallsburg, Utah. Her parents were William Davis Higbee and Viola Jane Boren. Willa Higbee Parker died on March 19, 1992 in Provo, Utah. Parker, and Harry Julian Parker. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS WIFE'S OBITUARY: Tirza Brown Parker, 96, of Salt Lake City, died April 11, 1999 of causes incident to advanced age. Tirza was born in Loa, Utah on August 31, 1902, to Benjamin Franklin and Phylotte Pack Brown. She wed J. Bartle Parker on June 12, 1935 in Evanston, Wyoming, and they enjoyed a warm and happy marriage until his death in 1980. She worked from 1929 until her retirement in 1964 in the advertising department of the Salt Lake Tribune, and Newspaper Agency Corporation. After retirement she continued to work part time on special assignments. Tirza was a cheerful, kind and compassionate person, who lived a long and full life. She had a lively curiosity, and was an insatiable reader and a life-long learner, traits that she passed on to her children. Artistically inclined, she engaged in painting and craft work for many years. In the last decade of her life, she took up writing, and was skilled enough to have some of her work published. Throughout her life she maintained a quiet joie de vivre, which brightened the lives of all who came to know her. She is survived by two sons, Kent Parker (Judi) and Howard Parker (Nancy), and two grandsons, Bryce and Stephen Parker. Memorial services were held on Thursday, April 15, 1999, in Salt Lake City. Interment, American Fork Cemetery. Zelda had Alzheimers and a short battle with cancer. She was raised in Provo, Utah, where she attended BY High, graduating in 1946, and then BYU for two years. At BYU she met her sweetheart, Floyd, when he ran over her toe as she stood on the corner! Zelda married Floyd Darwin Casper on June 6, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 6, 1963. They settled in Provo, where they raised nine children. After the death of her husband, she met and shared many wonderful years with her companion, Bernel Cox, enjoying her family, hunting, fishing, and traveling. Zelda relocated to Moroni where she was employed by Moroni Feed. She later relocated to Burley, Idaho, where she was employed by the potato plant. Her final residence was in Kearns, Utah, where she lived with her son, Floyd. She loved her church callings, her family, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Zelda worked with the Angel Tree program. Zelda is survived by her children: Darwin Parry (Diane) Casper, Orem, UT; Floyd Douglas Casper, Kearns, UT; Pamela L. (Myron) Bird, Salt Lake City; Timothy Reese (Annette) Casper, Kirkland, WA; Randall Kent Casper, Salt Lake City; Dennis Mark (Susan) Casper, Spanish Fork, UT; Hollee Gay (Kenneth) Anderson, Mt. Pleasant, UT; Philip Lynn (Brenda) Casper, American Fork, UT; and Angela Kay (Mathew) Kirk, Lewiston, ID. She is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Venita Roylance, of Provo, and Geneal Thomas, of Manila, the Philippines; and sisters-in-law, Arla (William) Brown, and Elvera (Kenneth,dec.) Casper. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and by her sister, Jolene McQueen. [Published March 21, 2004]
