Erma Gines. ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Erma Gines Anderton, 88, of Orem the past three years, formerly of Salt Lake City, died Monday, October 23, 2000. She was born in Murial, Wasatch County, now Ioka, Duchesne County, Utah, to Harlen and Florence Romania Corbett Gines, homesteaders in the Uintah Basin. She married J. Rulon Anderton in 1934 and they were the parents of eight children. They were later divorced. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Vinton, Dee S., Douglas, and Ned Gines; and three sisters, Ada, and Floris Gines, and Reta G. Cummings. She is survived by eight children: Janice A. Corallo, Orem; Kenneth G. Anderton (Jeanne), Verna; Neil G. Anderton (Carolyn), Heber City; Catheryn Ellen Withy, Orem; Elaine A. Kirsch (Chris), Orem; Richard G. Anderton (Kay), Salt Lake City; Lloyd Rulon Anderton (Tara), Orem; and Lisa Kathleen Erickson (John), Spokane, Washington; 42 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Erma attended and graduated from Brigham Young Academy with a teaching credential [Note: Brigham Young Academy ceased to exist in 1903 - she was a BYH graduate in the Class of 1931]. She then received a BS from Brigham Young University in 1960, and an MA in Guidance Counseling from Arizona State-Temple in 1964. During her career in education as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, seminary teacher and as Dean of Girls at Hemet High School, Hemet, California, Erma loved and nurtured many children. She especially delighted in her experience with students on the Ute Indian Reservation and enrolled in a special class to learn the language and history of the Native American population. A musician, Erma shared her talents as a violinist and member of the Brigham Young Academy symphony orchestra in Provo, Utah, and as a vocal soloist at weddings, funerals, and other special events. The talented Gines family band played at events throughout the Uintah Basin. Devoted to her religion, she served in many positions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in teaching and music positions. In her senior years she especially enjoyed teaching the Gospel Doctrine Sunday School class. Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000 in the Sunset Heights Ward. BYH Class of 1935. Stephen Glasscock. ~ ~ ~ ~ Stephen D. Glasscock was born on October 9, 1917 in Kansas. His parents were Andrew Calvin Glasscock and Martha Ann Henline Glasscock. He graduated from Brigham Young High School in the Class of 1935. He continued to live in Provo, Utah, where he enlisted in the National Guard on March 3, 1941. At that time he had two years of college. His profession was listed as Actor. He served as a Sergeant in the US Army Field Artillery, then moved to Azuza, California. He married Hazel Verniel [or Vermel] Hagedorn in Los Angeles, California on October 28, 1945. He was 28 and she was 21. Hazel was born April 6, 1924 in Missouri. Her parents were Osba Lawrence Hagedorn and Annie Landrum Hagedorn. Hazel died on May 8, 1997 in Santa Barbara County, California, at the age of 73. Stephen Glasscock died in Santa Barbara County, California on July 17, 2003. He was 86 years old. The Glasscock home was located at Santa Maria, Santa Barbara County, California. Their children & spouses include Trust [Travis?] Glasscock, Karl Dean Glasscock, Michael Douglas Glasscock, Sandra Jean Glasscock, & Damienne Glasscock.

He is included on a list of 59 names of the earliest students of Brigham Young Academy, taken from a file in the BYU Archives, made by an unknown contemporary student. ~ ~ ~ ~ About 150 "oldtimers" gathered for the first Alumni Emeritus Banquet during commencement week of 1941. Diantha Billings Worsley, Emma Stubbs Taylor, Alice Smoot Newell, Mary E. Cluff Little , Charles Albert Glazier, and Samuel D. Moore, members of Brigham Young Academy's first classes in 1876-77, attended the banquet.

Her parents were Charles Albert Glazier and Agnes May Smoot Glazier. Martha Glazier married David Richard Mitchell of American Fork, Utah, on June 10, 1914. Martha had graduated from BYH in 1912 and was attending BYU at the time of their marriage. David's parents were David Mitchell and Louisa Holindrake Mitchell. He had graduated from Brigham Young High School in 1908, and from BYU in 1911. He taught high school in Box Elder, American Fork, Richfield, Salina and Lehi, all in Utah. He was the basketball coach in each of those high schools except Box Elder and American Fork. David R. Mitchell served as principal in Richfield from 1918 to 1920, Salina from 1916 to 1918, and Lehi from 1920 until 1939, when he was appointed as the Superintendent of the Alpine School District. He was also involved in Utah High School Athletics as the Executive Secretary and President from 1920 until his retirement in 1954. He passed away on February 20, 1957 in Lehi where he had lived for 38 years. Martha Glazier Mitchell died on June 9, 1968 in American Fork. Interment, Lehi, Utah. [Source: Son, R. G. She married Merrill Dean Hone. @2001 ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Alene Gleason Hone. Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at her home on June 15, 2017. Mom was born on December 5, 1938 in Moab, Utah to Anton and Leah Gleason. She had an older sister Carol and would soon be a big sister to brothers Tom and Jon Anton. Alene attended school in Provo, Utah at BYU Elementary, BYU Junior High, and BYU High School, graduating in the Class of 1957. Alene attended all the BYU High class reunions and was looking forward to her 60th class reunion being held this year in 2017. Mom met the love of her life in 1957 and married Merrill Dean Hone on May 6, 1960 in the Salt Lake City Temple. She was the mother of six boys. Mom dedicated her time and efforts in raising her six boys, and always put her children first. She was extremely proud of each one of them. Mom and Dad moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1969. She worked as a school teacher at several elementary schools in the Las Vegas area. They returned home to Utah in 1969 and Mom began her life as a stay at home mom and part time secretary for her husband’s business. With all her children in school she returned to teaching. She worked as a substitute teacher in the Alpine school district until the fall of 2004. Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. During the last nine years, she worked in the baptistry in the Provo, Utah Temple. She loved seeing the young women and men come in after school to perform this sacred work. Alene was a resident of Provo, Utah at the time of passing. Mom is survived by her six sons and their spouses, 24 grand-children, 2 great-grandsons, a sister, and a brother. She is proceeded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Jon Anton. Merrill Hone died on December 15, 1989, in American Fork, Utah. Funeral Services for Alene were held on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the Pleasant View 1st Ward Chapel, 650 East Stadium Avenue, Provo, Utah. Interment, Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. After 42 years in Laramie, Wyoming, Ray and Carol moved to Baker City, Oregon, to be nearer some of their children. Ray's position at the University of Wyoming brought about travel to Italy, Spain, Norway, Germany, France and Brazil during the last ten years. Ray retired in 1999 and Ray and Carol served in the Kenya Nairobi Mission. They have worked as ordinance workers in the Denver Temple, and served as ward clerk and family history stake director. Ray is the High Priest group leader and Teacher Trainer. Carol is an extraction w3orker, family history worker and Primary teacher. They visit the Boise and Columbia River temples often. @2005
