(Kaye) Gamett [BYH Class of 1970], Orem. ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Our loving mother, Carolyn Gamett Jackson, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2023, after a short illness. She was born January 8, 1936 in Nephi, Utah to LaVell Clarence Gamett and Fay Taylor Gamett. She married William LeRoy Jackson September 18, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. Carolyn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved to cheer for the "B", "Y", "U". She graduated from the BYU High School in the Class of 1954. She loved attending BYU sports and other cultural events with her mother until her mother passed away in 2003. She worked for many years at Sears. Her pastimes were puzzles, Facebook, the Hallmark channel and her family. Carolyn is survived by her husband and seven of her children: Brian (Cindy) Jackson, Julie Giles, Scott (Cheryl) Jackson, Sherrie (Roy) Payne, Brad (Jody) Jackson, Karolee (Paul) Muniz, and Nicole (Damien) Peters; 23 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and her siblings Joe, Joyce, and Daryl. She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law; Tracy Giles, and a loving son; Craig L Jackson. In accordance with her wishes, there will not be a public memorial service. Interment, Provo City Cemetery on Friday June 23, 2023. Prior to the graveside service there will be a visitation at Walker Funeral Home Thursday evening, June 22, 2023, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Gamett, 79, of Provo, died February 28, 1990, in Provo. Born July 25, 1912 at Pleasant Grove. Married Fay Taylor February 14, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He taught in Juab School District eleven years, joining BYU staff as industrial arts professor in 1946. He was instrumental in much of the growth in the department for many years. Supervised the student teacher program for industrial arts, retired in 1977. Active member of LDS Church. Survivors wife, Fay of Provo; two sons, two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Carolyn) Jackson, Spanish Fork; Joe T. (LeAnn) Gamett[0], Las Vegas, Nev.; Mrs. Stephen (Joyce) Heaps, Salt Lake City; Daryl C. (Kaye) Gammett, Orem; 20 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers. Preceded in death by two sisters and grandson. Services were held Tuesday, March 3, 1992, in Provo. After celebrating her 90th birthday, our loving mother, Fay Taylor Gamett, passed away on October 1, 2003, after a short illness. She was born September 13, 1913 in Provo, Utah, a twin daughter of Theodore Thaddeus and Martha Jane Johnson Taylor. [The other twin: Fon Taylor Webster Cullimore.] Fay married LaVell C. Gamett, BYH faculty member, February 14, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death. Fay was an active member of the LDS Church. She had a great sense of humor and was known for her loyalty to BYU. She was active until the very end of her life attending BYU sports and other cultural events. She worked for many years as a lunch worker for Provo School District. Her pastimes were reading and sewing and spending time with her family. Fay is survived by her four children: Carolyn Gamett [BYH Class of 1954] (Roy) Jackson; Joe (LeeAnn) Gamett [BYH Class of 1957]; Joyce Gammett [BYH Class of 1966] (Stephen) Heaps; and Daryl (Kaye) Gamett [BYH Class of 1970]; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and one sister; Jeannie Taylor Brimhall [BYH Class of 1945]. Class of 1950. Fauvines, Yld Cat Staff, Notre Maison. Ruth Gammon Smith, 60, passed away Monday, January 18, 1993, at her home at her home in Raton, New Mexico. Ruth was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was born February 7, 1932, Vineyard, Utah, a daughter of Leland John Gammon and Lola Beatrice Willet. In 1950 she graduated from Brigham Young High School in Provo and attended Brigham Young University. She married Jerome L. Cowley, later divorced. She married Jack Z. Smith, July 24, 1980. Ruth's greatest possession was her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has faithfully served in every auxiliary of the church. She was a member of the Raton Branch, where she served as a stake missionary at the time of death. She also served as Relief Society President, Primary teacher, and librarian in the Raton Branch. Ruth was blessed to have lived in many areas of the U.S. and in Puerto Rico. She loved to travel and make new friends. Surviving are her husband, Jack; children, Jeri Smith and husband Bryan, Bountiful; Spencer Cowley, Evanston, Wyo.; Janice Mixer and husband, Andy, Payson. Her four grandchildren, Emily, Matt, Stan and Chris were the joy of her life. They had many fun adventures with Grandma Ruth. Also survived by three brothers and two sisters, Russell Gammon, Othello, Wash.; Wayne Gammon, Roy; Richard Gammon, Las Vegas, Nev.; Gayle Mahoney, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Naomi Bird, Provo. Preceded in death by a son, Stuart and a granddaughter, Krista. Services were held Thursday, January 28, 1993, in Raton, New Mexico. Class of 1972. Shari Coleen Gardiner. She married Timothy James Holweg. She has been a Provo energy department employee, worked at the Utah State Hospital, and also owns an auto repair shop with her husband, Tim. She was an unsuccessful candidate for Mayor of Provo in 1989 and 1993, and a successful candidate for Provo City Council in 1991 and 1995. She also ran for Lieutenant Governor of Utah in 2000. She is known as a leader who questions everything. ~ ~ ~ ~ Her parents: J. Max Gardiner and Mildred Jean (Monie) Bonnett. Their children include three daughters: Lora Jean (Jeanie) Gardiner [BYH Class of 1965] Campbell, Provo; Julie Dean Gardiner [BYH Class of 1970], Layton; and Shari C. Gardiner [BYH Class of 1972] Holweg (Timothy). ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Shari Colleen Gardiner Holweg passed away on November 24th, 2017 in the loving arms of her husband and her two sons. Shari was born on August 10, 1954 to J. Max Gardiner and Mildred (Bonnett) Gardiner and grew up in the Provo/Orem area. Shari attended Brigham Young High School until it was closed in 1968 then graduated from Provo High School. She briefly attended the University of Utah before transferring to BYU after a severe broken leg brought her back home. While attending BYU and working the night shift at a local gas station, she met the love of her life, Tim Holweg. After a whirlwind courtship, they were married on March 29, 1976. Tim and Shari worked very hard to save up for a downpayment on a house so they could start their family. They purchased a home in West Provo where they have stayed ever since. Shari truly loved her neighborhood and all of her neighbors very much; it has been the perfect place to raise their family. Their first child was their beautiful baby girl, Bonnie, who passed away shortly after birth due to complications of premature birth. A few years later, they had their second child, Seth, and shortly thereafter, Jeff. Shari always supported and encouraged her boys and their dreams in life. She even let them turn the garage into their band practice studio and hang out lounge for friends. Shari always had room in her home and heart for any family and friends who needed a loving place to stay. She was a dedicated public servant and always stood up and fought for the “little guy”. Everyone knew that if they needed help in any way, Shari was the one to go to. She always knew the best course of action and she thoroughly enjoyed helping others every chance she had. It wasn’t until she became a grandmother that she realized her true calling in life. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and her world truly did revolve around them. Even in her last days, she would always smile and light up when they came to visit. She truly was the best grandmother a child could hope for and her grandsons will miss her dearly. We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to all of our family and friends that have been so helpful and loving during the last several months. All of the love and support you have given Shari, Tim and our entire family is truly, deeply appreciated more than you will ever know. Shari is survived by her husband, Tim Holweg, Provo; two sons, Seth Holweg (Sherry), Provo; Jeff Holweg (Vanessa), Provo; one sister, Jeanie Campbell, Provo; and four grandsons, Marcus, Maddox, Max and Collin. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Colleen Holweg and her parents, J. Max Gardiner and Mildred Bonnett Gardiner.
