Lee and Patricia Dorius

Class of 1947. Lee Dorius. BYH Band. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: Leland "Lee" Olsen Dorius, 83, a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend left his earthly home surrounded by many family members in abundance of love on November 23, 2012 after a short illness at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. Lee was born a twin in Ephraim, Utah near midnight on September 6, 1929 to Wilford and Delilah Dorius. His twin sister, Delilah Dorius Scott, was born in the early hours the following day. As twins they always celebrated their birthday on September 7. Lee never realized the actual date of his birth till later in life. Lee's mother died due to complications of the twin's birth, therefore he was raised from an infant by his uncle and aunt, Harvey and Cordelia Booth of Provo, Utah. Lee was always grateful to his mother and the sacrifice she gave of her life for his. He was the youngest boy in the family of six. All preceded him in death: Floyd (Laura) Dorius, Robert (Launa) Dorius, Melba (Rollo) Larson, Keith (survived by wife Kay) Dorius, Delilah (Donal) Scott (survived by wife Phyllis) Scott. At nine years old, Lee began his working career putting together strawberry crates at his uncle's Edgemont farm. He attended Farrer Middle School and Brigham Young High School. He worked as a custodian to support himself while attending high school and graduated in 1947. Lee met his first and only love of 57 years, wife Patricia Ann Welsh on the Timpanogos Hike. They were married on September 29, 1955 and later sealed in the Provo LDS Temple. He worked first at Robarge cabinet shop then Anderson Lumber where he perfected his carpentry skills before working 35 years to retirement at Ferres Mill in Provo, Utah. Lee's entrepreneurial work ethic led to owning a countertop fabrication business often installing countertops in many of the local LDS church buildings. He taught his children the value of hard work. Often saying, "It's not how much you have, but how you take care of it". His children and their children were his greatest joys: John Dorius (deceased); Richard (Mary Jo) Dorius; Michael Dorius (deceased); Ryan (Lisa) Dorius; Susan Haws; Kathy (Brett) Lovelady; Kim (Gina) Dorius; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was a member of the LDS church and held various callings but his favorite of which was being a home teacher. Lee found his home away from home fishing in the Provo River and hunting, camping and four-wheeling in the mountains. Some of Lee's favorite activities included: mowing lawns, planting his garden, canning tomato juice, picking apples from the orchard to make his legendary applesauce, going on drives, feeding the ducks, getting a hamburger, shopping trips to Deseret Industries, fixing appliances and lawn mowers, and having garage sales. Lee loved giving away treasures that he had collected or fixed to his family and friends. He enjoyed family get togethers more than anything in the world. His famous words, "Haven't I seen you somewhere before?" or "I can't miss this! - All my cute relations", will always be treasured. He would reminisce about his childhood experiences telling all how special his family was to him and how much he loved them. There will be a "Celebration of Life" open house for all family and friends of Lee's held Friday, November 30 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Noah's (note address correction): 644 North 2000 West, Lindon, Utah. Condolences may be emailed to info@bergmortuary.com. Interment to be held at 12:30 p.m., November 29, at East Lawn Memorial Hills of Provo, Utah finally resting at "his building lot with a great view". [Deseret News November 28, 2012] Source

A few years later the College conferred on him an honorary doctorate. He married Maude Elsie Short on January 10, 1898.
