Coach Courtney M. Leishman served on the Brigham Young High School faculty from 1962 until the final commencement exercise at end of the 1968 school year. He taught physical education and health. He also coached football, basketball and baseball teams.
Coach Leishman was inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame on May 4, 2005, because he led the Brigham Young High School boys basketball team to the Class B State Championship in 1962-1963, his first year as head basketball coach at BYH.
After the close of the 1968 academic year, Leishman began to serve as coach of the BYU men's freshman team, while also serving as a BYU men's varsity team assistant.
Between 1977 and 1989, Coach Leishman's Cougar women's varsity basketball teams won seven conference titles.

Following their retirement in 1989, Courtney and Pat Leishman served three missions: first, they served a Church Educational System (CES) mission in Australia from October 2000 to April 2002; a mission at the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Provo from October 2003 to October 2004; and most recently, a mission to Nauvoo, Illinois from October 2005 to March 2007.
Court and Pat Leishman were married on April 11, 1957, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They have four children: Kathy Lee Leishman (Jeff) Garrett [BYH Class of 1976~H]; Jearlene Leishman [BYH Class of 1979~H]; Mike (Jodi) Leishman; and Rick (Lacey) Leishman. They also have several grandchildren.

Courtney and Pat Leishman were honored at an open house that celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. It was held on Saturday evening, April 14, 2007 at the Grandview South Stake Center in Provo, Utah. Their children extended an invitation to everyone familiar with them to attend.
